PENTATONIX: Interactive Light Instrument

A pentagonal instrument of light. Each of its five faces carries twelve light bars loaded with proximity sensors, giving the totem sixty different notes and sounds. Four or five people can gather around it at once and, by bringing their hands close to the bars, modulate those sounds and trigger different light animations.

The piece is introduced with a short fifteen-minute demo, and from then on the audience plays it themselves.

The sound was composed by Calde Ramirez of Music Komite. The idea is that other artists will write new sounds for it over time, so the audience can keep reinterpreting the piece.
