WAVES — work in progress

// Experiments · Hardware · TouchDesigner

Waves is an interactive project that represents and animates wave systems in real time, driven by a large number of fans.

This is the prototype for the final piece, currently in construction, which will be modular: it can be built at 3 × 2 m or even 6 × 1 m.

The project calls for up to 648 fans animated independently, controllable in several ways: by image patterns, by interactive animation following the position of the viewer's two hands, and by visualising real swell data from different parts of the world.

Built entirely in TouchDesigner. The Derivative team liked it enough to ask me for a demonstration video of the prototype, which they included alongside other projects in a talk they gave in Toronto for FITC (Future. Innovation. Technology. Creativity.) in April 2016.
